How To Catch Pals In Palworld

While Palworld has already proved that it is a successful and competent survival game in its own right, we all know what the main draw of this game is.

The cute creatures you can capture, train, and battle with. Whether you want a buddy to help you build a base, or a killing machine to help you explore the world in safety, you’ll need to know how to catch Pals in Palworld.

However, as you would expect with a survival game, the game doesn’t take you by the hand and teach you everything. So when you begin, it won’t be immediately clear how to catch pals.

So, I think it’s a good place to start. This is Indie Game Culture’s How to Catch Pals in Palworld Guide.

Pre-Requisites

Before you can even go about catching Pals, you’ll need to collect some materials and build the necessary Workbench to create the Pal Spheres, which totally aren’t just Pokeballs. Here’s how you can do that:

Collect Wood and Stone

The first thing you will want to do is find a nice open space where you can run around and pick up stray Wood Branches and Stones. They are scattered on the ground and can be picked up with no need for tools. Gather about 20x of each, and try to find a space where you would like to set up a home base.

Build a Primitive Workbench

When you find a spot that works for you, go into the Build Menu by pressing Up on the directional pad, and then select the Primitive Workbench.

You will need at least 2x Wood to build this Workbench. This will then give you access to various basic tools and some other fundamental items. If you have some extra Stone and Wood, build yourself an Axe, Pickaxe, and a Wooden Club.

Mine Some Palladium Shards

Now that you have some basic tools, the next step is to go and mine some Palladium Shards. These can also be found lying around on the ground from time to time, and can also be mined from Stone sources, but the easiest way to acquire these is by finding Palladium Ore and mining it directly.

Craft Pal Spheres

With the Palladium secured, you have all you need to craft a Pal Shphere. Just head to your Primitive Workbench and begin building a few. Best to have a couple handy because if you mess up the throw or the Pal breaks free, you’ll need to go and craft more. Always best to have some spares.

How To Catch Pals In Palworld

Okay, so now that you have some Pal Spheres, you can then set off and catch your first pal. Now, just a tip. Your catch ability will be quite low to begin with, so it’s best to pick a low-tier monster to catch first. There is an abundance of them in the starting area, but we would recommend one of the following:

  • Chikipi
  • Lamball
  • Cattiva

To catch a Pal, all you have to do is aim your Pal Sphere at the target, and you’ll see the potential catch rate. If you’re happy with your chances, then you release the trigger to toss the Pal Sphere, and if successful, this Pal will be added to your party. It’s that simple.

How Catch Rates Work

If you want to increase your chances of catching a pal, there are a number of ways you can affect the catch chance percentage. The player will be able to use stealth to sneak behind the target and get a bonus chance to catch it.

Alternatively, you can battle the Pal by using your own weapons or by using other pals to battle on your behalf. Then when the Pal is weak, or inflicted with a status effect, you’ll see your chance to catch rise significantly.

A New Pal To Play With

So there we have it. That’s how you catch Pals in Palworld. In truth, it’s pretty simple, but considering how much the game expects you to do right off the bat, it can be a little daunting.

We hope that this allows you to hop straight into the game and amass a huge army of Pals in no time at all. As always, thanks for reading Indie Game Culture.
