Palworld Rayne Syndicate Boss Guide

Palworld, despite being a game with a ton of systems to teach the player right out the gate, actually has a pretty well-made tutorial. Through completing initial tasks and Pal Missions, the player is taught how most of the basics work within the game.

However, for most of your initial hours playing this game, there will be one Tutorial Task that looms over you and will serve as the first real mountain to climb in this creature-taming title.

The Rayne Syndicate Tower is home to the first boss within the game, which will have you face off against a huge Alpha version of Grizzbolt, the Pal that looks rather like Electrabuzz from the Pokemon series. It’s a tough battle, and you won’t be able to just waltz in there without a good team and some levels and experience behind you.

However, with the help of this guide, you can be prepared for what Palworld’s first boss has to throw at you and rise to the top of the tower without breaking a sweat. Without further delay, here is Indie Game Culture’s Palworld Rayne Syndicate Boss Guide.

Where to Find The First Boss In Palworld

The Rayne Syndicate Tower is pretty easy to find, and you can probably reach the Tower within 5-10 minutes of starting the game if you aren’t afraid to explore beyond the opening area.

All you have to do is follow the path from where you begin your adventure, and this will eventually lead you to a huge blue, glowing tower and here, you will be able to begin the fight whenever you like.

But trust me when I say you don’t want to take this on immediately unless you want to get your first death out of the way, nice and quick.

Preparing For The Rayne Syndicate Boss

Essential Tips

There are a number of things that you should prepare before you take on the Rayne Syndicate Boss. Here are just a few things that I would urge players to do before they even think about taking on this Boss:

  • Players should aim to be at least Level 15. Your party is capped at your level, and fifteen is about as low as it can be to deal enough damage to beat the boss within the allocated time limit
  • Players should have access to a number of specific pal skills, which means you will need to build a Pal Enhancement Workbench
  • It’s good practice to raise your own player stats, have decent armor, and also have a good weapon to help your Pals deal damage in the fight
  • It could be beneficial to learn how Medicine works in the game, as this will allow you to heal in battle

Our Suggested Pal Party

Because you will be facing an Electric Type Pal, the best thing you can bring along is a selection of Grass Types that can endure Electric Type Attacks well and a series of Pals that have access to Earth Type Moves, as these are highly effective against Grizzbolt.

Plus, you can also bring along Pals who have special abilities that make them work with you. Here is a team that will work quite well:

  • Foxparks w/ Flamethrower Ability
  • Melpacca
  • Cremis
  • Eikthyrdeer
  • Gumboss

There are a variety of other suggestions that can fit this lineup, even with the limited Pals in the starting area of the game, but provided they know Earth Attacks, and aren’t weak to Electric Attacks, then you should be all set. Also, if you need some specific pals, you could head to a nearby Settlement and buy some Pals

Boss Fight Strategy

Even with a strong team, the battle can be a testing one, and if you try to play too aggressively, you’ll probably end up dead in minutes. So, to help you survive and thrive, here is a breakdown of the battle strategy we used:

#1 – Keep Your Distance

You may be used to killing Lamballs up close with a Spear or a Baseball Bat by this point, but that approach will only lead to pain here.

Grizzbolt has an AOE shock attack that can stun you in place, making you a sitting duck. So the best way to approach this fight is by letting your Pals do the majority of the fighting, and then, if you want to contribute, bring a Bow and some Arrows and chip away at Grizzbolt’s HP from a distance.

#2 – Watch Out For Lasers

Grizzbolt will regularly try to use a targeted attack, which has a laser sight to indicate the beam’s direction. This will pretty much always land, even if you do try to dodge the attack.

So when this happens, you’ll want to head to a Pillar and hide behind it. This will block the attack, and then you can get back into your normal rhythm.

#3 – Dip, Duck, and Dodge

Most of Grizzbolt’s other attacks are easily dodged and well-telegraphed, but there is one attack where Grizzbolt takes to the sky and makes a ground smash attack, which repeats three times.

This will always land directly on top of you, so what you need to do to avoid taking huge damage is keep your stamina bar as full as you can at all times, and when this attack starts, try to dodge, dodge, and then dodge once more.

There is about a second between each slam, but after you witness this the first time, you should get the timing down quite easily.

#4 – Watch The Timer

Grizzbolt has over 30,000HP for you to cut through, and you’ll only have ten minutes to cut them down to size, so the best way to think about this is you need to be dealing 3,000 damage a minute to keep pace.

If your current Pal on the battlefield isn’t achieving this, then don’t hesitate to switch to a different Pal and see if they can make a difference. If you aren’t doing enough damage, then chances are you need a new team, or need to level up more!

#5 – Don’t Use A Mount

I know it may be tempting to use a mount to be in control of your Pal’s attacks and charges, but I assure you, it will only end badly.

If you’re on the mount, it means that every attack is hitting you and your Pal, and while you have 5x Pals to absorb the damage over the course of the fight, there’s only one of you, and you’re pretty flimsy by comparison. So, just let them do their thing.

Rayne Syndicate Boss Rewards

When you defeat Zoe and Grizzbolt, you’ll earn the following:

  • 5x Technology Points
  • Access to a New Fast Travel Location at the top of Rayne Syndicate Tower
  • Tutorial Completion & Hillside Sovereign Achievement

Boss Bested!

And as you stand at the top of Rayne Syndicate Tower, that marks the end of the tutorial, and means that you have defeated the first boss in Palworld! Congrats!

It’s a tough battle as far as tutorial fights are concerned, and you’ll need to make sure you have a team that is up to the challenge, but hopefully, this guide gives you all the tools needed to ace this fight and get some Technology Points for your troubles. As always, thanks for reading Indie Game Culture.
