Cocoon Release Date Finally Revealed!

Voted the most-anticipated indie game at Summer Game Fest 2023, Cocoon is a unique upcoming project by Annapurna Interactive. Revealed briefly back on June 8th, 2023, the Annapurna Interactive Showcase today (June 29th, 2023) gave us further gameplay snippets, and, most importantly, a release date!

Cocoon is coming on September 29th, 2023, so mark it in your calendars now, folks!

This puzzle-adventure game explores the idea of worlds within worlds, and you’ll be jumping in and out of levels with an intriguing gameplay mechanic. Worlds are contained within orbs, which you have to move around by carrying them on your back.

The orbs have multiple abilities. Not only can they be used to travel between worlds, but you can also use them to activate and interact with objects such as bridges throughout your current level. You’ll have to use your skills and your wits to solve the puzzles the game throws at you.

The orbs also seem to be useful in moving around, and you’ll need to become comfortable with their many uses. You’ll be using the orbs as a primary gameplay mechanic, and they’re crucial to your progression throughout the game.

Set in an alien world with unusual infrastructure and machinery, Cocoon also pits you against terrifying bosses. You’ll have to cater your skills to the fight at hand. Will you have what it takes?

When Can People Play It?

Previously just announced as ‘coming soon’, we now know Cocoon will be released on… September 29th 2023! With less than 3 months till its release, we can now officially start getting hyped.

It’s available for wishlist on Steam, but it’s also being released for Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. That means that PC gamers and console players alike will be able to join in the fun, with no pesky exclusivity gate-keeping certain players from being able to experience it.
