This Hollow Knight Wanderer’s Journal guide aims to provide players with a detailed overview of the process of collecting all of the Wanderer’s Journals scattered throughout the game.
With a total of fourteen Wanderer’s Journals to be obtained, it can be a bit overwhelming to keep track of them all, mainly if you sell them. That’s where this guide comes in!
We will carefully walk you through every one of the fourteen Wanderer’s Journals, giving you the necessary information and tips to help you quickly find and collect them all, as well as provide insight into the significance and purpose of each journal.
The Wanderer’s Journals are tablets that can often be found scattered throughout the kingdom of Hallownest and you can sell them to Relic Seeker Lemm and get 200 Geo.
These tablets are usually found near the corpses of individuals who are thought to have written the journal. It is unknown what is written in the journals, as they are written in various languages and cannot be read by most people.
Wanderer’s Journal #1 – Greenpath
If you’re looking for the first Wanderer’s Journal, you’ll need to head down and to the right from the location of the first Hornet fight in Greenpath.
Keep an eye out for the Stag Station and bench, and you’ll find the Wanderer’s Journal sitting across behind a breakable wall where one Fool Eater can be found behind it. You will have to kill it to get the Wanderer’s Journal.
It might be a bit of a hunt to find, but with some careful exploration and some luck, you should be able to locate it quickly.
Wanderer’s Journal #2 – Greenpath
The second Wanderer’s Journal can be found in a secret location in the lower region of Greenpath, close to the entrance of Fog Canyon. In order to access it, you will need to look fr a hidden passageway in the ceiling, which can be difficult to spot without a keen eye for detail.
To reach the journal, you will require the Mantis Claw, which can be obtained later on in the game in the Mantis Village. Specifically, you can acquire the Mantis Claw just before facing off against the formidable Mantis Lords in a boss battle.
Wanderer’s Journal #3 – Fungal Wastes
The third Wanderer’s Journal can be found in a vertical room in the Fungal Wastes. This one is not hidden and can be easily spotted by anyone who enters the room. The journal is located behind a door that can be seen from the other side of the room, so you will know exactly where to look when you enter.
To obtain the journal, you will need to have the Crystal Heart, also known as crystal dash or long dash. After completing a challenging platforming section, this ability can be acquired later in the game in Crystal Peak.
You will also need the Mantis Claw that is obtained before the boss fight against the Mantis Lords.
Wanderer’s Journal #4 – Fungal Wastes
The fourth Wanderer’s Journal can also be found in the Fungal Wastes, and like the third journal, it is not hidden and can be easily spotted when you enter the room. To obtain the journal, however, you will need to have the Mantis Claw ability, which allows you to cling to walls and reach otherwise inaccessible areas.
The journal is located down and to the right of a shortcut that leads into the Queen’s Station Stag Station. To get to it, you will need to navigate through the Fungal Wastes and use the Mantis Claw to reach the journal’s location.
Wanderer’s Journal #5 – Howling Cliffs
The fifth Wanderer’s Journal can be found in the Howling Cliffs area of the game, but it is well-hidden and requires some effort to locate.
Specifically, the journal is hidden behind a breakable wall on the right side of the main area. To find the journal, you must be observant and pay attention to your surroundings as you explore the Howling Cliffs. Look for any walls or structures that seem out of place or seem like they could potentially be broken through.
Wanderer’s Journal #6 – City Storerooms, City of Tears
The sixth Wanderer’s Journal is located just outside the City Storerooms Stag Station, a bit to the left of the entrance. This journal is not hidden and can be easily spotted and retrieved by anyone who is looking for it.
To find the journal, simply head to the City Storerooms Stag Station and look to the left of the entrance. You should see the journal sitting in plain sight, waiting to be taken.
Wanderer’s Journal #7 – City of Tears
The seventh Wanderer’s Journal can be found in the City of Tears, behind a room filled with enemies that is located above the King’s Station Stag Station. To obtain the journal, you will need to navigate through the City of Tears and make your way to the location.
Be prepared for a challenging battle, as the room is filled with enemies that will need to be defeated before you can access the journal. Once you have cleared the room of enemies, you will be able to enter and safely retrieve the journal.
Wanderer’s Journal #8 – Pleasure House, City of Tears
The final Wanderer’s Journal in the City of Tears can be found in the Pleasure House, a location that requires a Simple Key to access.
Once inside the Pleasure House, you will need to go right, where you will find an elevator. If you investigate this area, you will discover that the Wanderer’s Journal is hidden behind the wall on the first floor, waiting to be found by those who are diligent and determined enough to seek it out.
Wanderer’s Journal #9 – Ancient Basin
As you approach the Ancient Basin, you will notice that there is a large, broken bridge spanning the entrance into the area. If you look closely, you will see that the ninth Wanderer’s Journal is located beneath this bridge sitting in plain sight. You will need Crystal Heart to reach it.
Wanderer’s Journal #10 – Crystal Peak
The tenth Wanderer’s Journal is almost at Crystal Peak’s top, and it is sitting in plain sight, but seven Crystal Crawlers are guarding it.
Wanderer’s Journal #11- Kingdom’s Edge
The eleventh Wanderer’s Journal is located in Kingdom’s Edge. As you enter King’s Edge, you will notice a passage on the left side of the area. If you follow this passage, you will come across the eleventh Wanderer’s Journal, which is sitting in plain sight, waiting for you to discover it.
Wanderer’s Journal #12 – Kingdom’s Edge
The second Wanderer’s Journal in Kingdom’s Edge can be found in a hidden location that is obvious to those who are passing through the area.
To find the journal, you will need to keep an eye out for a hidden bench that is located near the second Hornet arena in Kingdom’s Edge. There is a sign to help you find the bench easier.
Wanderer’s Journal #13 – Kingdom’s Edge
As you explore Kingdom’s Edge, you may notice that there are several areas where the floor appears to be slightly different from the rest. If you look closely, you may notice that some of these floors are actually breakable and that there is a hidden area beneath them.
If you are able to find one of these breakable floors and break through it, you may be able to uncover the final Wanderer’s Journal, which is hidden beneath the floor in a secret room in the middle of Kingdom’s Edge.
Wanderer’s Journal #14 – Resting Grounds
The final Wanderer’s Journal is in the Resting Grounds. As you explore the underground section of the Resting Grounds, you will eventually come to a section on the far right side of the area. If you look closely, you will see that the final Wanderer’s Journal is tucked away in this section, right there
What do I do with my Wanderer’s Journals?
Now, it is a well-known fact that we can sell Wanderer’s Journals to Lemm in exchange for 200 Geo. Who is Lemm, you ask? Relic Seeker Lemm is an NPC who has set up shop in the abandoned City of Tears.
He is interested in exploring his surroundings and collecting antique objects, and he is particularly interested in learning about the history of the land. While Lemm is happy to talk about his findings and theories, he is very protective of his collection and is not willing to sell any of the items he has gathered.
He is only interested in interacting with others if they have something to offer him for his collection. It is also worth noting that Lemm is not particularly thrilled about Wanderer’s Journals. It is clear that he would prefer to avoid buying Wanderer’s Journals if possible.
- Other items that Lemm will accept are Hallownest Seals, King’s Idols, and Arcane Eggs, sold for 450 Geo, 800 Geo, and 1200 Geo respectively.
