If you are someone who has been playing Palworld for a little while now, you may be aware that basic materials like Stone and Wood are easy to get your hands on, and can be passively accumulated with base buildings like Logging Mills and Mining Stations.
However, as you move from a beginner Palworld player to an intermediate Pal tamer, you’ll find that some resources cannot be gathered quite as easily, and you’ll need to create methods of your own to farm these effectively.
Without a doubt, the first instance of this you’ll run into is Ore farming. Players can head to Ore Deposits, mine some Ore, and then head back to their base to smelt it down, but it’s a long and tedious process that is limited by your carry capacity.
So, with that in mind, we intend to show you how to build yourself an Automated Ore Farming Base in Palworld, allowing you to get this resource in bulk and craft some of the more necessary mid-game items in the game. Without further delay, this is Indie Game Culture’s How to Build an Automated Ore Farm in Palworld.

What Is Ore In Palworld?

Ore in Palworld is a resource that can be attained very early in the game, but only becomes useful when the player gains access to an advanced Workbench.
This workbench allows the player to begin working with metal to create new items, and with this new option for the player, the need to melt down Ore becomes essential.
Ore is found in Ore Deposits dotted around the map. It looks rather similar to Stone Deposits, but the difference is that Ore has thick, metalica veins running through the rock. This can be mined, and you tend to get around 40-50 Ore from each deposit.
Why Is An Ore Farm Essential?

If you’re really adamant that you want to make your starting base the only base you use, then you can head out, grab Ore from deposits away from your Base, and then bring them back home, but in truth, that will perhaps double or triple your production time.
The main reason you want an Ore Farm is because it saves time, and it’s a much more convenient setup that automates the process, meaning you don’t need to be present to mine Ore and the resource can be accumulated passively. Which leaves you with more time to explore and catch new Pals.
How To Build An Ore Farm In Palworld – A Step-By-Step Guide
Step One – Reach Base Level 10

Okay, so before we even think about building an Ore Farm, it’s best to focus on Pal Missions and raise your Base Level to Ten.
This is because moving your starting base is way too much hassle, and it’s beneficial to have two working bases in action at once. So, struggle on until you reach Base Level 10, and when the option to make a second base becomes available, we can then go and scout for a new location.
Step Two – Find An Area With Loads of Ore

This part is crucial as this will essentially decide how efficient that your Ore Farm can become. You’ll want to explore the Palworld Map, and try to find an area that has a wealth of Ore Deposits.
That’s the bare minimum, but here are some basic characteristics that we would look for when deciding where to build your Ore Farm.
- Ideally, you want an area with four or more Ore Deposits, and you want them densely packed together to ensure they fit in the base perimeter
- You’ll want an open, flat space where you can survey the operation easily, and build without any issue
- Players will want to avoid building in areas that have wild and hostile Pals spawn regularly, as this will lower productivity significantly
- Players will want to build their new base a good distance away from their other existing base
- Players will want to ensure that other basic materials are available in the vicinity as well
If you can’t find one, here is the spot where I placed my first Ore Farm; you do get a few random Pals wandering through, but there is loads of space and loads of Ore!

Step Three – Build Base Basics

Next, we need to build the bare essentials to make this base functional and livable for any Pals that you intend to leave here long-term. If you pick a decent location, you may not need to bring any resources with you to get you started, but assuming you have no materials around you, you’ll need to bring this along from your old base:
- 3x Flame Organs
- 15x Fiber
- 10x Palladium
- 65x Stone
- 100x Wood
- Berries x 50
- Berry Seeds
When you have these items at the base, you’ll then want to build the following as a minimum starting point:
- Pal Box to create the Base
- One Straw Bed Per Pal at the Base
- One Wooden Chest
- Feed Box
- Berry Plantation
- Primitive Furnace
Step Four – Catch Some Digtoise

Now that you have all the basic buildings and tools needed to get the base up and running, you’ll need workers who can really make a dent in all the Ore at the base and start passively building your stock of Ore. In terms of your Transport, and Kindling, pretty much any applicable Pal will do for now.
However, when it comes to Mining, there is only one Pal I would suggest for the job, and you’ll want to catch 3-4 of them if you want to make the Ore Farm an immediate success.
You’ll want to go and catch a few Digtoise, a mining tortoise Pal that has the ability to mine Rock and Ore at an incredible rate of speed. These Pals can be found in the Desert area of the map, roughly around the area where you will be able to find the Alpha Version of Anubis.
Generally speaking, these Pals will range from level 19-25, and they are pretty hard hitters who focus on high DPS attacks.
So you’ll want to bring a Pal that can handle them, and you’ll want to bring Mega Spheres and Giga Spheres with you if possible, as Pal Spheres just won’t cut it at this point. Use them as a last resort, but don’t rely on them.
Step Five – Assign Base Workers

After you have your Digtoise captured, you can then head back to base and start adding Pals to the base. There is no perfect formula for an optimum Ore Farm, as some people will have different wants and needs from this setup.
Some folks won’t mind manually adding food to Feed Boxes, whereas others will prefer having Berry Plantations on site and will sacrifice some Mining workers to have Planters, Waterers, and Harvesters.
So this is not the only way that you can set this Base up, but there are some essentials that are needed. Which are:
- Digtoise x4 (Mining)
- Killimari/Hangyu x2 – (Transporting)
- Arsox/Foxparks – (Kindling)
Then, as for non-essentials, I would consider adding the following:
- Pengullet/Penking (Watering)
- Broncherry/Dinossom (Planting)
- Lifmunk/Robinquill (Harvesting)
- Robinquill/Penking (Handiwork)
Step Six – Increase Productivity

Then, finally, as you level up and more late-game items become available to you, there will be ways to increase the productivity of this Ore Farm.
At Level 20 you will be able to access a Flame Cauldron, that will increase the speed of Kindling at the base. Then, at Level 30, you will be able to craft a Pickaxe and Helmet, which will increase the speed of production for all Mining.
How to Score More Ore!
So there you have it, a quick and easy way to set up a new base that is custom-made to produce Ore fast. Trust me when I say that this decision to make an Ore Farm will not be one you regret, as this will allow you to create so many new and helpful items, making your time in Palworld much more exciting as you explore.
I hope this helps you build the base you want, and as always, thanks for reading Indie Game Culture!
