As is the case with most survival games out there, the aim of the game is to start with nothing and race to become a competent and successful survivor as fast as possible, and Palworld is no different. Players will start with nothing and need to use a blend of survival acumen and beast-taming skills to thrive in this new and exciting world.
However, surviving and thriving are often two different things, and if you want to level up fast and unlock the best gear and weapons that Palworld has to offer, then you’ll need to put a plan into action.
This can be tricky when you don’t know what to expect, but thankfully, we have been all over Palworld, know all the little underhanded tricks it can throw your way, and we have come up with some fantastic tips to help you level up as fast as possible in Palworld, so without further delay, here is Indie Game Culture’s How to Level Fast In Palworld Guide.

#1 – Kill or Catch Everything

Hands down, the best and most efficient way to build XP in Palworld is by catching and killing enemies in the wild. It can be tempting to avoid confrontation in favor of unlocking a new Fast Travel Marker without getting into a fight, or ignoring fodder enemies as they are more trouble than they are worth.
But the thing is, every little bit of XP helps, and if you get into the habit of taking out enemies as you go, you’ll level up infinitely faster because of it.
The best way to do this without it becoming a chore is by making sure you do the following:
- Get a mount early so you can use their attacks as you explore
- Get yourself a good melee and ranged weapon
- Use Skill Fruits to learn moves that are easy to use on the move
#2 – Catch Multiples To Earn Bonus XP

While you may be inclined to catch one of each type of Pal and favor them above all others, it actually pays dividends to not get too sentimental about your Pals, at least in the early game, as catching multiples of the same pal will grant you aan XP Bonus up until you catch your tenth Pal of the same species.
So, if you see a gang of Chikipis or Cattivas and you still haven’t caught ten, now is the time to rectify that!
#3 – Don’t Be Afraid of the Stronger Pals

One thing I wish someone had told me early on is that, despite their higher levels and imposing designs, the higher level Pals within this game can be killed or caught quite early on, provided you go into each encounter with a full team, a tonne of Pal Spheres, and a decent plan of attack.
You might not be able to take out the Level 38 Alpha Mammorest walking around the starting area, but if a Pal is five or even ten levels higher than your party, you still have a very good chance of taking them down or adding them to your team.
Plus, if worst comes to worst, you die, you pick up your gear, and you try again later. No big deal. So don’t be afraid, take on the big boys, and win!
#4 – Clear Dungeons As You Find Them

When the multiple catch bonus XP becomes less of a viable option as the Pals you are catching are much tougher, you can then turn your attention to Bosses in the open-world and Dungeons.
These are areas in the game where you will battle through a cave, gather some items from Chests, take out a few mob enemies, and then, at the end of the Dungeon, you’ll be able to take on an Alpha Variant of a Pal.
These Pal Dungeons not only offer a tonne of XP through defeating mob enemies and Alphas but also give you a chance to stock up on Ancient Civilisation Parts, and you tend to get some pretty helpful Schematics from Reward Chests at the end of the Dungeon, too.
Also, here’s a bonus tip. Dungeons are tough to find as they tend not to show up on the map, but if you want to find one nice and quick, you can find one behind the Merchant’s Shack in the Small Settlement northwest of the starting area.
#5 – Don’t Rely On Base Building XP

A tip you’ll probably have seen on other lists of this nature is that you can accumulate XP by building things at your base, and you’ll gain passive XP from automated bases. This is absolutely true, but I just want to put it out there: it’s not an effective or fast leveling option.
The amount of XP you gain from doing tasks at your base is helpful in the beginning, as that will be the majority of what you will need to do to progress and get the tools needed to explore properly and safely. But after a short time, the XP gained will be pitiful when compared to exploration and battling XP.
Don’t get me wrong, this is a good way to passively add to the XP that you gain, and when you get the opportunity to build multiple bases, you should do that as soon as you can. But it’s more of a luxury than a surefire method, and it’s also a poor way to level Pals. Think of the daycare center in Pokemon, and you aren’t too far off.
#6 – Crafting Arrows Yields Huge XP Gains

If you want to game the system a little bit, and get some Arrows for your efforts, then a great way to gain a lot of passive XP is by crafting Arrows at your base. When you have a fully automated base with Logging and Mining stations, you’ll have more stone and wood than you could ever need.
Well, all you need to craft basic Arrows is wood and stone. So if you have a Pal on base who can craft items in your absence, then you can have them craft these arrows, and you’ll gain 2,400 XP per hour, and this will only increase with the number of handiwork Pals you add to your base.
It’s a little bit of a cheese, but it’s easy to do, and it happens out of sight and out of mind while you are out exploring, so it’s a pretty good option, to be honest.
#7 – Consider Changing Your World Settings

Then, lastly, we have one that I would only recommend if you really want to progress through the game at pace and don’t mind having an experience that is a little far removed from the developer’s vision, as this does make the game a little too easy in my opinion.
If you go into the World Settings when you start your adventure, you can up a number of settings to make your time in Palworld much easier, and one such option is your EXP Rate, which will increase the multiplier when granting the player XP, and this can be changed to potentially offer the player up to 20x the normal XP rate for a standard action.
Honestly, I think unless you are quite conservative with that XP Slider, then this will ruin your time with Palworld, but feel free to experiment and find something that works for you.
A Master In The Making
So there you have it, ten helpful tips that will have your Palworld level soar before your eyes and see you become a master Pal Tamer in no time at all. Palworld will force you to explore, battle hard, and grind for each level.
But with this guide, you should be able to get ahead of the pack and be the envy of everyone on your server. As always, thanks for reading Indie Game Culture.
