Over the last year in gaming, I’ve gone from someone who didn’t really know what a Cairn was, to someone that is intimately familiar with their purpose, their history, and how to stack them carefully to ensure they weather any storm.
For that, I have games like Horizon: Call of the Mountain and Tchia to thank. Jusant also includes Cairns in their game, but mercifully, you don’t have to build these intricate rock stacks for yourself; you just have to add a stone on top as you locate each one.
These Cairns are probably the most superficial of all the collectibles in Jusant, as pretty much all the rest have an environmental storytelling and worldbuilding aspect to them.
But usually, when you find a Cairn in Jusant, they signal that there is an awesome view for you to take in, and while it isn’t rich in lore, it sure is screenshot-worthy.

What Are Cairns In Jusant?
As mentioned, these are small rock piles that you will find hidden in Chapters One through Five in Jusant, and you’ll need to track twenty of these Cairns down if you want to complete the set.
Some of these will be painfully obvious to spot as you ascend, but others will be tucked away in hidden locations, meaning you’ll need to remain vigilant and explore each area thoroughly in case you miss one, because, believe me, you don’t want to repeat chapters looking for them.
As for what they do. Well, basically nothing, if I’m being honest. They point out an area of interest, and if you stop for a minute and survey your surroundings, there is usually an awesome view. However, they offer no rewards, no benefits to the player, and don’t reveal any subtle plot points like other Jusant Collectibles.
That being said, if you want the associated achievement of finding them all, you’ll need this guide!
Jusant All Cairn Locations Revealed
Cairn #1
Chapter: One
When you get to the area with the long bridge leading to the first main settlement, instead of going across, stay in the cave and hug the wall around; then, on the other side, you’ll find a cairn.

Chapter: One
Around the back of the hut over the bridge where you find the note, you’ll find the next cairn.

Chapter: Two
When you climb to the area directly level with the place where you activated your first echo flower, hook to the right, and you’ll find a Cairn on the ledge.

Chapter: Two
When you get to the abandoned restaurant area where you find the second shell of the game, if you head to the cliff’s edge and left and up, you’ll see a raised ledge with a Cairn. You’ll need to climb a little further to the right of the Restaurant and then use some precise Piton points to wall-run back over. But if you can manage that, you’ll have another Cairn to add to your collection.

Chapter: Two
When you get to the built-up settlement area in Chapter Two, you will notice an elevator on both the left and the right as soon as you climb up to this level. Take the elevator to the right and then walk forward, left, and left again, passing the room with the Altar, and you’ll see a ladder. Climb this and then shimmy across the tight ledge. Then, in the big opening, you’ll find a cairn enjoying the view.

Chapter: Two
After the makeshift farm, where you find a Shell, you’ll set to a section where you will repeatedly need to use hanging lamp fixtures to swing across gaps to proceed. Do this, and eventually, you’ll see a doorway forward and a ladder that will lead you to the beginning of Chapter Three. Just before you do this, look to the right, and you’ll find a Cairn. If a cutscene plays, you’ve gone too far.

Chapter: Three
When chapter three begins, proceed until the Zipline and then turn around; if you do, you’ll see a little cave. Walk through and deep within the cave; you’ll see your next Cairn.

After climbing through the area with the first of the wilting flowers and past the small settlement with the hutches. Before using the Echo plants to proceed, you’ll find a cairn on the cliff’s edge.

In the first sizable settlement in chapter three, you’ll notice an area with muddy patches that allow you to descend lower and lower. Do so, and on the lowest patch, you’ll find a cairn waiting for you

After you cross the windmill and get to the higher level above the settlement, you will see a tree with some paper windmills and offerings nearby. When you get here, use the echo plant to get up another level, and then you will notice a connected stone archway to the left, where you can hop from one ledge to another. Do this, and on the farthest ledge, you’ll find a cairn.

When in the area with the mineshafts, you will find a descending set of platforms with sandpits of sorts. Follow these down, and on the lowest level, you’ll come across another Cairn.

In the area near a hanging portion of a boat, you will find a cairn just behind a beached boat resting by the cliff edge.

Chapter: Three
In the area above the hanging boats, about halfway up a rounded stair set, you’ll see a monument that looks like a golden hot air balloon. Drop a piton and hop off the stairs onto that platform, and you’ll find another Cairn. You can also climb the stairs, explore the area above, and then rappel down later if you prefer.

At the beginning of Chapter Four, pretty much immediately after you open the first mechanical door with the switch, go through, then climb the ladder to the left, cross the small plank bridge, and you’ll find your next cairn.

In the glowing blue mushroom area before the area with all the Jellyfish, after you use a Zipline, followed immediately by an elevator. Turn left at the top, and you’ll come to an area where you’ll find a lock gate. Before proceeding through and exploring, turn left toward the dead end blocked by boats and debris, and you’ll find a Cairn.

Chapter: Four
In the blue cave with the grapple lamp to swing on in the middle. When you rise above the grapple point and are able to cross the platform that the grapple is attached to, there is a little glowing hideaway on the other side where you will find the next Cairn.

Immediately after you climb to the top of the open glowing blue area, the hue will briefly change to green. At this point, immediately turn left, and you’ll find a cairn

In an area after a series of elevators and Ziplines when you are about to rise out of the Great Basin (the area with all the jellyfish). Using a lamp near some moss, you can swing over to a nearby area and access another Cairn.

Chapter: Five
In Chapter Five, you will eventually fight through the fierce winds to an area with a couple of rotating windmills, and this will signal a fork in the road of sorts. The left path will take you onward to your goal, but before you do that, you need to head right. With the use of some carefully placed Pitons, and well-timed leaps to make use of the wind, you can make it to a ladder that will take you to a hideaway. You’ll know it’s the right one if you see a rope swing outside. Head inside, and on the right up some stairs, you find another Cairn.

Chapter: Five
You’ll get to the top of the windy area. You’ll know because there will be a big monument that signals the end of the chapter, where you’ll insert your conch and play a note, as usual. But before you engage with that, explore the area behind with all the tents. Then hook left into a little area where you’ll find another Cairn.
Stacked With Care
So there you have it, every Cairn location in Jusant. Some of these Cairns are tricky to track down, and will have you looking in secret areas of the mountain that novice climbers will walk on past. However, with the help of this guide, you can hopefully find all these rock formations in one run, avoiding any repeating of chapters.
