Collectibles are the lifeblood of a platformer; that’s unquestionable. Mario wouldn’t be the same without some coins to pick up along the way.
Celeste wouldn’t be half as challenging without all those pesky Strawberries hidden in precarious places along the way, and Neon White would be non-stop running and gunning if it weren’t for those presents scattered around each level.
Well, in the new meditative mountaineering epic, Jusant, players will have plenty of items to pick up along the way. You’ll have Shells to find, notes that will help you fill in the blanks on the stories of the past, Bianca Journals that will help you find out the fate of this mountain’s former resident, not to mention Cairns and Altars too. However, we will be focusing on Jusant’s wall art assortment known as Frescos.
These are ancient paintings that tell the story of this mountain’s former inhabitants, and foreshadow the events that will take place when you reach the summit. No spoilers here, of course.
These Frescoes can be a pain to find, but with our help, we will help you become Anique Gallery Managers in your own right. So without further delay, here is Indie Game Culture’s Jusant All Fresco Locations Guide!
What Are Frescoes in Jusant?
The definition of a Fresco is “a painting done rapidly in watercolor on wet plaster on a wall or ceiling so that the colors penetrate the plaster and become fixed as it dries.”
This definition should give you a basic idea of what to be on the lookout for as you climb up the mountain, but it’s not just some old painting.
It’s a painting that reveals the lore of the mountain, the creatures that inhabit this monumental structure, and will help you piece together the silent environmental plot of Jusant, because if you aren’t engaging with the items you find, you’re just climbing a mountain with a little blue frog. Which, to be honest, is fulfilling all the same.
As for activating them, you can add these to your collection by walking up close to each painting and using Ballast’s Echo power to activate the Fresco before you. Easy-peasy!
In short, these are collectibles with a story to tell, and if you want a little more exposition as you find them, go to the pause menu and look in the gallery. Here you will find a little write-up for each explaining what’s going on, albeit in a pretty abstract manner.
