Slime Rancher 2 Update Adds Weather and Old Slimy Favorites

Slime Rancher 2’s development cycle has been quite the slow burn, with the first major content update coming in February of this year, and we’re finally getting the second one.

This time adding dynamic weather and two fan-favorite slimes from the first game, the Tangle and Dervish slimes. It’s not much, but it’s something after a long drought.

These two features have been shown in a little bit of detail on the Slime Rancher Twitter account, with a few cool screenshots showing the lovely-looking rain and an awesome Slimenado, so I think it’d be nice to dive into all the new content you can expect to find if you plan on booting up Slime Rancher 2 when the update drops on November 14th.

Breaking Down The Slime Rancher 2 Update

Weather

One prominent feature of this new Weather system is massive tornadoes that can kick up on a particularly windy day.

I might be getting ahead of myself, but this is presumably how you’d obtain Dervish slimes since there’s no equivalent to the Glass Desert in the original Slime Rancher, and getting tornado slimes from a tornado makes sense.

Aside from that, you’ll also see rain occasionally (as well as Snow in the Powderfall Bluffs); you might also see some lovely fireflies amidst a group of Flutter Slimes and find yourself amid a lightning storm at times.

These will happen occasionally and be nice changeups from the game’s typically bright and cheery environments.

Tangle and Dervish Slimes

The other prominent feature of this update is the return of the first Slime Rancher’s endgame slimes, the Tangle and Dervish Slimes.

These two were both found rarely in the Glass Desert at the very end of the first game and felt unique and alien, and seeing them return is a welcome sight, though it does bring into question how you’d acquire them.

As I said previously, Dervish Slimes probably pop up around natural Tornadoes, so that would make them pretty tricky to acquire.

Tangle slimes are little plant slimes that root their vines underground to steal things, and they were usually only found in oases, so maybe they’ll only be found in grassy areas near water in Slime Rancher 2.

But that’s about it regarding the content we know is coming. We’ll get full patch notes on November 17th when the update drops, but we have no clue of anything else that might be coming with this wacky weather and these silly slimes.

Some extra content would be appreciated, but this update has piqued my curiosity and is certainly enough for me to hop back in.
