I adore the King of All Riddles. Even if I thought Lies of P’s main story was mediocre, the King of All Riddle’s narrative of sadistic vengeance and violent free will was fascinating.
Between their strange, snarky enigmas and a horrifying reveal, I was utterly captivated by the quest’s end. Even if I wanted to squash Gemini under a metal puppet boot for their annoying contributions, I could listen to the Riddler’s crummy riddles for hours.
In this Lies of P Riddle Answers and Trinity Sanctum locations guide, I’ll review how to find the secret telephone stations throughout Krat for their Trinity Keys, the correct answers to their calls, and the location of the Trinity Sanctum containing invaluable amulets, quartz, and lore. As a bonus, I’ll review the backstory behind the evil King of All Riddles and what drove them to terrorize Krat.
TL;DR – Locations and Rewards
Interact with each Riddler’s telephone, going with the answers Human, Candle, Ergo, Egg, and Yes. While one of the puzzles requires moving a statue in the Grand Expedition, correctly answering all the puzzles offers an encounter with the Puppet in person where we should choose “human” when a prompt comes up.

The Serial Riddler of Krat
A menacing riddler who terrorizes our journey with haunting calls that mock our morality, the King of Riddles is a mysterious figure who has menaced the citizens of Krat for decades with strange phone calls. Despite their peculiar schtick, the Riddler is seemingly aware of our existence, testing us with endless riddles, mocking our morality and free will.
While these riddles are optional, they reward Trinity Keys that open corresponding Trinity Sanctums containing invaluable materials like quartz and amulets. Pursuing this quest leads to a grand reveal explaining the origination behind the Grand Covenant, the truth behind puppets, and Vengini’s traumatic past.
Riddle 1: Man or Monster?
- Location: Workshop Union Entrance
- Answer: Human
We can find the first Telephone call for the Riddler’s Quest just before the bridge to Venigni’s Factory at the end of an alley. To start warp from the Union Workshop Entrance, and climb the nearby ladders to get to the top of the factory gate.
After heading down the nearby steps, we can cross a bridge brimming with puppets and head through the left gate. At path’s end, we’ll find a ringing telephone waiting for us to answer.
After picking up the phone and being told we’re the lucky caller, the Riddler introduces themselves and asks us the classic Oedipus Rex riddle: “What walks on four feet in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three at night?”
The answer to this question is human as they crawl on four as an infant, two as an adult, and three (with a cane) as an elderly fellow. After ending the call and obtaining our first Trinity Key, we can locate the first Trinity Sanctum.
Trinity Sanctum 1
- Location: Workshop Union Culvert Stargazer
- Rewards: 1 Quartz, Blue Blood’s Tailcoat
Starting from the Workshop Union Culvert Stargazer, follow the first ladder on the right upwards through a small stone corridor, then take the first drop off downwards to reach the floor below.
Head down through the passage, climb the ladder at the right side of the room’s end, and we’ll find the Trinity Sanctum just as we enter the passage.
Inside, we’ll find an obscure piece of lore relating to Arlecchino murdering Venigni’s parents, quartz, and a Blue Blood’s Tailcoat in a safe.
Riddle 2: Cunning Candle
- Location: Malum District
- Answer: Candle
The next Telephone call is in Malum District on the way to the boss fight. After we reach the Courtyard with the burning image of a bunny engraved upon it, we’ll find a large metal gate we can head through.
Once we head through, look on the gate’s backside to find a ladder that leads to a new floor. Upon reaching the top, we can head to the area to the left to find a telephone in the husk of a building.
After picking the answer “candle,” we’re gifted another Trinity Key we can use in a prior area.
Trinity Sanctum 2
- Location: St. Frangelico Cathedral Chapel
- Rewards: Monster Sweepers Hunting Apparel, Black Cat’s amulet
After warping in, head through the leftward passage and down the usual path before on the way to the cathedral’s basement and head up the ladder at the far end of the room. We’ll have to navigate this area as we had beforehand, dodging past massive enemies spitting gunk and climbing the ladder ahead to a challenging set of rafters.
After making it across and taking the ladder down, we’ll continue through a small stone passageway that leads to several rolling balls. I recommend hugging the walls of the rolling ball area to make it through, where we can take the ladder to the road’s right to find yet another rolling ball area.
Continue through this small passage and look for the set of doors at the room’s right, revealing the following Trinity Sanctum location. After passing inside, we’re granted access to the Monster Sweepers Hunting Apparel and the Black Cat’s amulet, which reduces falling damage.
Riddle 3: Eggscellent Enigmas
- Location: Grand Exhibition Gallery
- Answer: Egg
We’ll find the next riddle in the Grand Exhibit after following the set path to reach the boss, running across a giant bridge in an area overlooking a stationary tram. After dealing with the machine gunner patrolling the area, pick up the phone and choose the next answer: “egg.”
Unfortunately, we have a little work ahead of us as we’ll have to travel to complete a short puzzle to get the Trinity Key in question. Luckily, all we have to do is drop down a floor and look for an entrance into a small room beside the tram.
Inside, we’ll find the statues of two women we can rotate. After rotating them both to face each other, the cabinet opens, and we get our following Trinity Key.
Trinity Sanctum 3
- Location: Estella Opera House Stage
- Rewards: Quartz, Belford Superior Corrosion Resistance Converter.
Unlike the last one, the next Trinity Sanctum requires very little work. Upon returning to the Estella Opera House Stage, return to the room with the swinging chandelier on fire. Rather than walk across the small beam, drop down to find the Trinity Sanctum ahead.
Inside, we’ll find a safe containing Quartz and Belford Superior Corrosion Resistance Converter, a fantastic item for traversing the barren swamps brimming with decaying monsters. We’ll also uncover a mean piece of lore surrounding Adelina losing her voice (how rude!).
Riddle 4: Enrapturing Ergo
- Location: Grand Exhibition Gallery (Later)
- Answer: Ergo
For the next riddle, the game expects us to look for a phone in a ruined Krat Central Station. However, once we reach the ruined Train Station, we can return to the prior phone call booth from the last area in the Grand Expedition, and the Riddler will ask the new question there.
After outsmarting the developers, we can pick the “Ergo” answer to get the Trinity Key.
Trinity Sanctum 4
- Location: Krat Central Station Lobby
- Rewards: Carrier’s Amulet +1, Workshop Masters Workwear
This last door is the easiest to find and offers the best rewards out of every Trinity room. To begin, warp to the Krat Central Station Lobby and continue in the direction facing the bronze statue’s back side, going up a few stairs to see a doorway on the left with a fallen door.
After passing through the doorway, we’ll see the Trinity Sanctum just ahead at the bottom of another flight of stairs. Upon interacting with the room, we obtain a small piece of lore detailing the Metal Angle responsible for the production of moonstone and the widespread use of Ergo.
We can then access the safe to enjoy the Workshop Masters Work (i.e. Geppetto’s jacket) and the Carrier’s Amulet, drastically increasing our carrying capacity. I highly recommend this amulet as it enables us to equip more protective clothing and swing heavier weapons without worrying about fat rolling.
Riddle 5: Kooky Killers
- Location: Relic of Trismegistus Entrance
- Answer: Yes (you monster)
To begin, head downwards from the Relic of Trismegistus Entrance stargazer through a narrow passage, leveraging Gemini to light up the area. After reaching a crossroads at a lantern at a box, take the lefthand path upwards to find the phone ahead.
Upon picking up the receiver, the King of Riddles gives a long speech applauding our progress. For his question, he asks if we’re a killer, to which we have to respond “yes.”
Following our reply, the King of Puppet’s voice begins to distort as he comforts us, telling us that “murder honors life” and hinting that they are inhuman. With a terrifying end to the call, we receive the Chosen One’s Trinity Key that we can use to meet the King of Riddles in the flesh.
Trinity Sanctum 5
- Location: Krat Central Station Lobby
- Rewards: Alchemist’s Cape, Quartz
Starting from the Outer Abbey Stargazer, head up the nearby ladder and proceed up several stairs to find a machine gunner guarding another ladder. After knocking the machine gunner off the ledge to their doom, head through the stone passageway up a set of stairs to find a massive room with the Trinity Sanctum at the bottom.
While there are a few different ways to reach the bottom, I recommend taking the rightward set of stairs and the small plunge downwards. Though we should have enough health to survive the fall, we can leverage the Black Cat’s amulet we picked up in a prior Trinity room to reduce the damage further.
Upon reaching the bottom, we’ll find a Trinity Sanctum at the room’s far end, housing the King of all Riddles: Arlecchino.
Spoilers: King of Riddles Identity
After approaching the King of all Riddles, they reveal their violent past and the truth behind puppets, criticizing the Alchemist’s attempts to play God.
To begin, the King of Riddles reveals they were a puppet named Arlecchino who achieved self-awareness and realized that he, like all other puppets, was a human soul placed in a puppet-like body. As punishment for enslaving humans and for a bit of sadistic glee, Arlecchino embarked upon a path of bloody vengeance, killing Vengini’s parents to destroy their son and cutting through the Alchemists’ audacious attempts to manipulate life.
As a consequence of their violent acts, the workshop and alchemists covered up Arlecchino’s violent actions, leading alchemists to institute the Grand Covenant to prevent puppet violence.
Eventually, the King of Riddles discovered the Alchemist’s island and infiltrated the facility, wiring themselves to Sophia and siphoning her powers of omniscience and time manipulation. After growing bored of torturing the scientists trying to play God, the King of Riddles discovered us and decided to toy with us instead.
Following this interaction, we can attack Arlecchino and report to Vengini to give the weary inventor some closure to his parent’s deaths as a child.
FAQs
Question: How Do I Open Trinity Sanctums?
Answer: You can open Trinity Sanctum with Trinity Keys obtained by correctly answering the King of All Riddles questions and interacting with a Trinity Sanctum while you have one in your inventory. While we can use any key out of order to open the last Trinity Sanctum, we need the “Chosen One’s Trinity Key,” which we can obtain by finding all five King of All Riddles telephones and correctly answering the last question.
Question: What’s Behind Each Trinity Door in Lies of P?
Answer: The first Trinity Sanctum in Venigni’s factory houses a Quartz and a Blue Blood’s Tailcoat, while the second one in St. Frangelico Cathedral Chapel holds Monster Sweepers Hunting Apparel and Black Cat’s amulet. The two doors in Estella Opera House Stage and Krat Central Station contain Quartz and Belford Superior Corrosion Resistance Converter and a Carrier’s Amulet +1 and Workshop Masters Workwear, respectively. The last Trinity Sanctum holds the King of Riddles, who offers us an Alchemist’s Cape and Quartz for answering correctly.
Question: Who Made the Trinity Sanctums?
Answer: A sadistic puppet named Arlecchino, better known as the King of All Riddles, made the Trinity Sanctum and gave Krat riddles to mess with and terrify the locals. However, after the Krat Puppet Frenzy, Arlecchino began to toy with us instead to satisfy his boredom.
Conclusion
Clever guessing, Puppet of the week! You got to the middle of the King of All Riddles!
While the game had already hinted at Puppet’s being the souls of people put into inanimate objects, I appreciated Arlecchino aggressively beating me over the head with the truth. Frankly, I thought this side story was an impressively strong narrative that succeeded in telling a nightmarish tale that explained the Alchemists of Krat and the truth behind puppets.
Even if I grew increasingly irritated by Venigni’s cheerful demeanor and Gemini’s tone-deaf, stating-the-obvious remarks, I appreciated this fantastic side story to wrap up an otherwise optional side character. While I doubt the King of All Riddles will make a violent return, I’ll forever adore the terror they stirred in my cogwheel heart.
