Hollow Knight Silksong Set For Nintendo Direct No-Show

For those eagerly awaiting even the tiniest morsel of new Hollow Knight: Silksong info, we have some bad news.

Courtesy of a tweet from, Matt Griffin, a member of Team Cherry’s marketing team today, we received the news that Hollow Knight Silksong will not be featuring in any capacity at the upcoming Nintendo Direct penciled in for 3 pm (UK Time) today.

Here’s the tweet from the team developing the sequel to the beloved indie, Hollow Knight:

Team Cherry had previously aimed to release the highly anticipated sequel in the first half of 2023, however, it seems that the team is determined to smooth any rough edges and make sure that the game is as good as it possibly can be before putting it in the hands of the Hollow Knight community.

The post reads:

“Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong. We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing.

We’re excited by how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can. Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.”

Now, usually, this would spark outrage and uproar, as gamers aren’t generally known for their patience. However, if you take a look at the comments under this tweet, it’s a collection of very chill and positive responses.

The cumulative vibe among fans seems to be that they would rather the developers kept the bun in the oven and ensures that this title can live up to the lofty heights of the original Metroidvania smash-hit.

It’s not ideal for indie fans, but all is not lost, as it seems like we will be blessed with a handful of cool announcements to make up for Silksong’s absence this afternoon.

Reports suggest that we should be getting some more info on the upcoming Pikmin title, Pikmin 4. We may also be getting eyes on a new Metroid installment, and we should also be treated to more info on the new Persona 3 project.

I know it’s no substitute for a Hollow Knight sequel, but who knows? Maybe Nintendo has something up their sleeve we don’t know about. I guess you will have to tune in alongside us to find out!
