Blasphemous 2 All Prayer Locations

Blasphemous 2 is a complex game. It’s stressful, strenuous, and if you don’t have the reactions to keep up with the enemies on screen, it’s bloody frustrating, too. I’m not lying; my Xbox Controller is praying The Game Kitchen doesn’t bring out Blasphemous 3 anytime soon.

Yet despite this, I’ve had a wonderful time exploring this eldritch Spanish Inquisition locale. I love games that offer a bit of challenge, and Blasphemous 2 is definitely a game that falls into that category. I knew that the very moment Radames smooshed me into a puddle of blood the first time we met.

The start of this game was rough. I was getting killed constantly, and I wasn’t really progressing at a steady pace until I started utilizing Prayers. Whether it was using Debla of the Lights to beat Sínodo, or using Bleeding Miracle to ace the Battle Arena, the conclusion is the same. Prayers are invaluable, and with that in mind, I have a guide that will help you make sense of this mechanic, and help you find them all too!

How do the Prayers Work?

The Prayers are powerful attack and utility spells. The Penitent One can use these if he has the Fervour necessary to cast them. For those unaware, Fervour is the blue bar you can see nestled under the health bar. There are two types of Prayers: Chants and Verses. You can select one of each. You’ll see the Prayers you selected in the HUD next to the weapon you are currently using. Prayers don’t usually cost much Fervour, but problems arise if you frequently take a dirt nap. Here’s a quick rundown of the Guilt System, and the difference between Chants and Verses:

The Guilt System

Whenever you die, your Fervour bar will get blocked by a brown branch-like bar named Guilt. You can remove your Guilt by reaching the last place where you died and recover a Guilt Fragment. However, depending on how many times you have died, you may only recover a small amount of your Fervour Bar, or perhaps none at all. If you keep dying and your bar gets entirely blocked by Guilt, the Guilt Fragments will stop unlocking your Fervour bar.

If that’s the case, the only cure is to travel back to the City of the Blessed Name and talk with The Confessor, who will charge you to remove your Guilt. The only catch is that atoning for your sins isn’t free. It will cost you 1,000 Tears of Atonement.

The upside to all this is that if you constantly go to The Confessor, he’ll eventually die. Yes, that doesn’t sound like a good thing. But as he dies, a Cherub-like version of The Confessor will appear on the Prie Dieus, and you can confess whenever you find a Prie Dieu.

Chants

Chants are the most potent spells of the game. They usually deal a lot of damage but, in exchange, cost a lot of Fervour and require some time to cast. You aren’t immune to damage during the casting time, so you must be careful and pay close attention to the attack pattern of every enemy. To cast a chant, you must crouch and press what I call “the Prayer button,” which is B on Xbox and â—‹ on PlayStation.

Verses

Verses aren’t as powerful as the Chants, but they cost way less Fervour than Chants, and they don’t have an extended casting time, so they are perfect to use in sketchy situations and attack enemies in Battle Arenas. You can cast a Verse just by pressing “the Prayer button.” Just be careful not to try to cast a Verse while crouching. I recommend briefly releasing the joystick before casting a Verse, as I had times when I wanted to cast a Verse, but I ended up casting a Chant as I was moving, or vice-versa.

There are a total of 17 Prayers, nine Chants, and eight Verses. Let’s see how to find them! But first, let me give you a vital tip before starting.

Tips Before Item Hunting

If you haven’t heard the term “Cobijada” yet, you might consider getting acquainted before going prayer hunting. Here’s an article that can help you!

The Cobijadas are lost nuns you must rescue. As you do, they’ll offer you several upgrades to the Prie Dieus you’ll find on the map. The most important one, in this case, is the upgrade that lets you teleport between Prie Dieus.

So, find all the Cobijadas and then go to the City of the Blessed Name, reach the Fast Travel room, and go to the room on the opposite side of the hallway. You’ll find the Cobijadas there; talk with the biggest one and pay the tributes she’s asking for to upgrade your Prie Dieu. Do this before hunting any other type of item, as it’ll be beneficial and save you many headaches.

If you completely explored Profundo Lamento the first time you reached the place, you might have found a ladder that connects the zone with The City of the Blessed Name. If that’s the case, use that ladder to reach Profundo Lamento, then jump to the wall at the left and drop yourself down there until you find a room. This room has an Elevator; don’t use it and keep walking to the left. You’ll eventually reach a balcony where you can find this Chant.

If you haven’t found the ladder I mentioned before, you must go to the usual entrance of Profundo Lamento, then drop yourself down, go through a room at the right, drop yourself down again and get inside a room at the left. Keep walking to the left until you find a dead end; as you do, climb up, get through an entrance at the right, climb up again, and you’ll find the ladder. Then, stick to the wall at the left and enter a middle entrance to find the Elevator. The Chant is on the other side of it.

The easiest way to reach this Chant is by going to the Prie Dieu at the entrance of the Crown of Towers, then going to the left and getting inside Choir of Thorns. Keep walking until you get inside a cave. It’s the one marked in the map above.

As you reach this place, walk to the left until you find a Praying Statue. There are a couple of climbing walls above the statue; climb them, and as you reach the top, look to the right; there’s a gap you must jump through. The chest that contains this Chant is on the other side.

I left this Chant to this point of the guide as you need to get the Cherub Rings ability to get it.

Go as if you were going to the Fast Travel room; you might have realized that there are some yellow sparks in that hallway. Well, those are hidden Cherub Rings. Use them to climb to the top, where you’ll find a Bell. Ring it several times to give yourself time to reach the next zone.

Now it’s time to rush; drop yourself down and then walk to the right as if you were going to the zone where you can upgrade your Bile Flasks. There’s a blue wall that gets briefly removed when you ring the Bell; go through it to reach a new room, where you’ll find the chest that contains the Taranto To My Sister.

Jabera to The Poison Of Jealousy

Go to the bottom Prie Deu of the Crown of Towers. Now, head to the right through the lower hallway and climb until you find a room on the right. Keep going to the right until you get inside another room. Climb up to the middle section of this room, where you’ll find a puzzle involving Praying Statues and teleporting yourself with Mirror Statues using your Sarmiento & Centella weapon.

The puzzle is easy to solve, but it’s hard to execute. You must first go to the Praying Statue. Don’t pray on it yet; select your Sarmiento & Centella first. Now, pray on the statue; it’ll move the platform on the left side of the room to the right. Now, use the Mirror Statue next to you, jump to the left, and use the Mirror Statue floating in the air. When you reach the other side, select your Ruego Al Alba and pounce to remove the roots blocking the chest containing this Chant.

You’ll see a ghost enemy and a couple of Mirror Statues. Kill the ghost and use the statues to climb to the top. You’ll find the Lullaby there.

Travelling to Profundo Lamento

It’s time to take the Lullaby to Profundo Lamento. Go to the bottommost Prie Dieu of Profundo Lamento, then go to the room at the left. Drop down and enter the first room on the left you see. Here, you’ll see a giant woman trying to sing a lullaby to her daughter. Give her the Lullaby of the White Shore, and she’ll take you to The Dream, a side-scroll stage where you must advance and survive. The Chant is at the end of the stage.

There are two ways to get this Verse. The first is by reaching Two Moons, shortly before facing Svsona but before opening the door to reach the boss room. Here, you’ll find Yerma. During the events of the game, the first time you reach this zone, Yerma will tell you that she wants to help you defeat Svsona, but her spear isn’t ready for the battle, and she needs an item named Holy Oil of the Everlasting Anointment to help you out. Let’s get the item.

How to Get The Holy Oil of the Everlasting Anointment

  • Location: Elevated Temples

You must travel to the middle Prie Dieu of Elevated Temples to get this item. Then, get down the ladder and walk to the left without taking any detours until you reach another ladder that leads downward. Use it.

As you get down the ladder, head to the right. You’ll get to a room with Cherub Rings; cross it, and the Oil will be there. You can also open a door that will work as a shortcut for later in case you want to explore Elevated Temples.

Return to the fast travel room or use the Teleport prayer to return to Two Moons. Head to Svsona’s Boss Room to help Yerma, and she’ll give you the Prayer as a thank you.

FAQs

Question: Which is the best Chant for Boss Fights?

Answer: Debla of the Lights, undoubtedly. I can’t recommend any other chant than this one for Boss Fights; it deals a lot of damage, doesn’t consume much Fervour, and is easy to land. It works wonders against Sínodo, Svsona, and Incarnate Devotion.

Question: Which is the best Verse for the adventure?

Answer: Bleeding Miracle. As soon as you get access to Bleeding Crown, go for it as well. Both are great as they cover a lot of horizontal space, enough to take enemies down without risks. You can take a Behemoth down with a full Fervour bar, which is excellent!

Question: How can I make my Prayers hit harder?

Answer: You’ll need The Woman Of The Stolen Face altarpiece to increase your Prayer’s damage. You’ll get it via Régula after she dies holding the chapel wall in Labyrinth of Tides. It’s unmissable.
