Blasphemous 2 Bile Flask Locations Guide

Blasphemous 2 is a punishing game. There. That’s the obligatory obvious statement out of the way early. The game is practically a 2D Dark Souls with a smattering of religion for good measure, and it’s a harrowingly brilliant experience. However, even if you are the most Pentient of Pentient Ones, you won’t get far unless you master combat mechanics, collect Prayers and items to upgrade your loadout, and also, you’ll need a handful of Bile Flasks to dig you out of a hole when a skeleton is wailing on you with no signs of stopping.

Bile Flasks are potion-like vials you can see nestled under your Health and Fervour bars that heal you. It’s possible you didn’t even use one to beat the tutorial boss, but you’ll come to rely on them towards the end of the game. Even if you try to avoid all the enemies instead of taking them down, I’m sure you’ll receive a hit or two before reaching your destination. So, as the game advances, they get more useful.

But what are these flasks exactly? Can you upgrade them? Can you have more than two? Let’s find out!

What are the Bile Flasks?

While they have a disgusting name (vomit always gets me), the Bile Flasks will act as your saving grace in this horrifying world. Bile Flasks are vials you can use to heal The Penitent One. When you start the game, you’ll only have two Bile Flasks at your disposal, but you can get more of them.

Getting More Bile Flasks

You must find and collect Empty Receptacles to get more Bile Flasks. They are just empty vials, and you can’t do much with them yet, as you need to take them to a giant lady in the depths of The City of the Blessed Name. Her room is on the other side of the hallway that takes you to Profundo Lamento. You must go down through a ladder to reach her room.

This lady will craft you a new Bile Flask per each Empty Receptacle you give to her. There are four Empty Receptacles hidden in Cvstodia, so you can reach a total of six Bile Flasks.

Here’s the exact location:

How to Upgrade Your Bile Flasks

As the game advances and you find the Ornate Chalices that let you increase your health bar, you’ll see that the Bile Flasks don’t completely heal you; instead, they only heal a certain amount of health. Nonetheless, you can increase their healing effectiveness by searching and finding the Silver-Clad Crystal Shards.

There are three Crystal Shards hidden in Cvstodia, and as you find them, you must take them to the giant lady in The City of the Blessed Name. This lady will use the Crystal Shards to increase the capacity of your Bile Flasks. With the last upgrade, you can heal yourself almost entirely if you are about to die.

Now that you know all you need to know about the Bile Flasks, it’s time to search the Empty Receptacles and the Silver-Clad Crystal Shards. But first, let me give you a vital tip before the item hunting. Trust me, you’ll need it.

Preparation Before the Item Hunting

Does the term ‘Cobijadas’ mean anything to you? If not, please visit this guide!

The Cobijadas, like everything hidden in this game, have a handy function, as they can upgrade the Prie Dieus, letting you teleport to any Prie Dieu on the map. To do this, first, find all the Cobijadas. Refer to the guide I linked above for extra help. Afterward, go to the City of the Blessed Name, reach the Fast Travel room, and then go to the right.

This is the Cobijadas’ room. Talk with the biggest Cobijada and pay all the tributes she’s asking for. As you do this, you can teleport to any Prie Dieu you want. To do it, you need to go to any Prie Dieu, then select “Travel Between Prie Dieus” and pick the one you want to go to.

This will be vital to make this process way more manageable and shorter, saving you a lot of headaches. Trust me, I did this the first time by traveling on foot, and it was pretty tedious to say the least.

It’s time to find all the Empty Receptacles and Crystal Shards. Let’s get started!

Empty Receptacles

Empty Receptacle #1

  • Location: Profundo Lamento

You can get this Empty Receptacle early into the adventure, as it’s hidden in Profundo Lamento. The Empty Receptacle is in a room next to the ladder that connects Profundo Lamento with the central zone of the City of the Blessed Name.

This ladder isn’t hard to find, as you got out of Profundo Lamento with it the first time you explored this zone. To collect the Empty Receptacle, you must go through a Battle Arena and defeat all the enemies.

Empty Receptacle #2

  • Location: Elevated Temples

To get this Empty Receptacle, fast travel to the bottommost Prie Dieu of Elevated Temples. From here, walk to the right until you find an exterior zone with a long ramp going downwards. Continue walking to the right until you find two climbable walls. Climb them, then go to the left until you see a ladder. Climb it. Be careful with the enemy throwing statue heads at you. He’s a headache!

The first thing you’ll see in this new room is another climbable wall and a Mirror Statue, so select your Sarmiento & Centella, climb the wall, jump, and hit the mirror; it’ll take you to a small room where you’ll find the Empty Receptacle.

Empty Receptacle #3

  • Location: The Severed Tower

Go to the Fast Travel room of The Severed Tower and leave through the door at the right. You’ll see two enemies with chandeliers here; avoid them by going down. Now, walk to the middle of the room and drop yourself through the big opening, leading you to the Sínodo’s Boss Battle room. As you land here, go to the left.

In this new room, go down again. This will lead you to a room with many wax droplets that deal an absurd amount of damage, so be careful and avoid them. Go to the ground of this room and kill the enemy there. Then, go to the right; you’ll see some Cherub Rings here you need to use to climb up. As you get to the top, go to the room at the right. The Empty Receptacle is there, but you must go through a Battle Arena to claim it.

Empty Receptacle #4

  • Location: Street Of Wakes

This last Empty Receptacle requires finding the five Bedridden Daughters hidden throughout Cvstodia. This will unlock a new zone in Street of Wakes where a dead lady will challenge you to five different Battle Arenas.

The Empty Receptacle is the reward for completing the third Battle Arena challenge, so you only need to find three Bedridden Daughters to get it. Nonetheless, I’ll show you how to find all of them, as every Battle Arena gives you an excellent and handy reward.

Go to the Fast Travel room of Elevated Temples, then leave through the door at the left. Keep walking to the left until you see a ladder leading to a room above. Take that ladder. You can only go to the left in this new room, so follow the path until you find a Mirror Statue. Select your Sarmiento & Centella and use it to reach a higher zone. As you reach a platform, jump to the right and take the ladder leading to a lower zone of the room. Then, walk to the right, and you’ll find the Bedridden Daughter.

Daughter #3

  • Location: Crown Of Towers

Go to the Fast Travel room of Crown of Towers, then get out of that room through the door at the left. Now, go down and take the entrance at the right. This will take you to a section with two long hallways and a smaller room. Just keep going to the right. Eventually, you’ll find a zone with an Elevator.

Don’t take it and drop yourself down instead. As you get to the ground, go to the right until you find a Praying Statue. Go to the top of that zone to get to a room above. Using the Praying Statue is optional if you have the double jump ability.

Start climbing up in this new room; don’t take any detours. Climb until you get to a new room above. In this new room, you’ll see two platforms; climb them. There’s a Chain Barrier at the left side of the room, so double jump and dash at it to get to the room where the Bedridden Daughter hides.

Daughter #4

  • Location: Basilica Of The Absent Faces

This Bedridden Daughter isn’t far from the previous one. You must first reach a Prie Dieu to teleport you to the Prie Dieu at the top of the Basilica of Absent Faces. Go to the left and drop yourself to the ground as you get there.

As you hit the floor, go to the right. In this new room, don’t drop yourself or take any detours; just keep walking to the right. If you check the map, you should be in the tall room on the right side of the Basilica. So, climb up through the left side of this room until you can’t climb anymore. When this happens, move to the left, and you’ll find the Bedridden Daughter.

Daughter #5

  • Location: Sunken Cathedral

This Bedridden Daughter is technically hidden in Sunken Cathedral, but to reach it, you must go to the bottommost Prie Dieu of The Severed Tower, as these two zones are connected.

Reach the Prie Dieu I told you about, then go to the left. Go to the entrance at the top of this room to get to a new room. Here, start walking to the right until you find a room where the first thing you’ll see is a fire-spitting enemy stuck in the ceiling. Keep walking to the right and stick to the wall. Hit it, and it’ll reveal a hidden zone that connects with the Sunken Cathedral.

The first thing you’ll see now that you reached Sunken Cathedral is a path of Cherub Rings. Use it to reach the top right side of the room. You’ll eventually see a Mirror Statue that leads to a switch; break the switch, and you’ll see a door opening. Let’s go there.

First, walk to the left until you see the entrance you used to get here. If you look at the ground, you’ll see a small, thin floor section you can use to get down. Go through it and follow the path; it’ll eventually take you to the door you opened. The Bedridden Daughter is on the other side of that door.

Where to Claim The Empty Receptacle?

Go to the Prie Dieu of Street of Wakes and enter through the lower right entrance. You’ll see some people crying and a child in a deep sleep. Interact with her, and she’ll take you to a zone with a woman. This woman will challenge you to a Battle Arena against random enemies. Do three rounds of her macabre tournament to get the Empty Receptacle.

Travel to the topmost Prie Dieu of the Palace of the Embroideries. Now, go through the entrance at the right. In this new room, you’ll see two Mirror Statues. Use them to reach the room at the top and go to the room at the left.

Keep walking until you get to a new room where the first thing you see is a Prayer Statue. Before praying on it, select your Sarmiento & Centella. Now, pray on it; this will open a door at the other side of the room. Use the Mirror Statues to avoid the enemies and get to the room you opened. The Crystal Shard is there, but you must first battle for it in a Battle Arena.

Travel to the Prie Dieu at the top of Elevated Temples. It’s the one next to the Chapel of the Five Doves. From there, start walking to the right. Don’t stop until you reach a zone with a small climbable wall and a ladder leading to a higher zone of the room.

Take the ladder and start walking to the left. Don’t take any detours, and walk until you see another ladder. Use it, and walk to the right. There’s a Chain Barrier you must dash through, and in the end, a Crow enemy and a Mirror Statue. Kill the Crow and use the Mirror Statue. It’ll lead you to a Cherub Ring path. Follow the Cherub Rings as they appear, and they’ll lead you to the Crystal Shard.

Conclusion

And that’s it! Take all the loot you found to the Blood Lady in The City of the Blessed Name to get four extra Bile Flasks. They’ll be fully upgraded, so they can take you out of a sketchy situation by healing you almost entirely if you are almost running out of life. It’s essential to do all this process before facing Eviterno, as that’s a difficult Boss Fight where you’ll need all the help you can get.
