Lies of P Best Builds Guide

Lies of P has nauseating character creation. From a vast arsenal of weapons, amulets, and P-Organs, we can customize nearly every facet of our puppet-slaying adventure.

And yet, this incredible variety can be overwhelming, forcing me to pick between various options and stick to that weapon for the rest of the game. Between the lack of legendary weapon upgrade materials and

In this Lies of P Best Builds guide, I’ll review the top five Builds to create your character around. As a bonus, I’ll detail where to find each Weapon and Amulet required to make this build.

TL;DR

If you prefer dealing more damage for quick combat encounters, pursue a Motivity Build focused around Motivity, Vitality, Capacity, and Vigor with weapons like the Holy Sword of the Ark And Frozen Feast to end most combat engagements quickly.

Alternatively, if you prefer more reactive builds that offer a better opportunity to parry and enjoy higher DPS, focus on the Technique, Vitality, Vigor, and more lightweight weapons like the Two Dragons.

Before We Begin

Before our build, we should consider that most of these weapons and amulets are obtained from bosses, and we won’t be able to get the materials required to upgrade them or their amulet counterparts in a single playthrough.

While Lies of P prides itself on experimentation with its weapon assembly, Legion Arms, and easy ability to respec, I highly recommend sticking with a single build, usually Motivity, until we reach the end and can switch to Uroboros’s Eye.

Lies of P – Top 5 Builds

5. Advance

A more hardcore build for lovers of the legion arm, an Advance build allows us greater use of the Legion Arm and legion-affected weapons in combat. While I don’t recommend this build for a first playthrough, it’s a fun playstyle if we enjoy setting foes on fire or reducing puppets to an acidic puddle.

Stats

  • Level 80
  • Vitality: 34
  • Vigor: 17
  • Capacity: 30
  • Motivity: 7
  • Technique: 5
  • Advance: 26

Weapon: Black Steel Cutter

  • Blade Type: Greatsword
  • Weight: 15.8
  • Attack Damage
    • Physical: 65
    • Fire: 65
  • Scaling
    • Motivity: D
    • Technique: B
    • Advance: A
  • Fable Arts
    • Condensing Slash (3 Fable) – Perform a Powerful Slash with up to three more slashes if we charged the strike beforehand
    • Endure (1 Fable) – Allows you to withstand an enemy’s attack temporarily.

A deadly machete that deals both fire and physical damage, the Black Steel Cutter is a fantastic weapon that scales well with Advance. We can find the armament in the Hermit’s Cave after deciphering a Cryptic Vessel we can purchase from Polendina after giving them the Special Krat Box located in Ruined Krat.

Legion Arm: Flamberge

  • Weight: 8.2
  • Fire ATK: 40
  • Scaling: (Motivity: C, Technique: D, Advance: A)

Given its high scaling of Advance, Flamberge is fantastic for quickly inducing Overheat and wearing down enemy health. I highly recommend Flamberge against carcass enemies and making it easy to stagger bosses and eliminate mini-bosses.

Amulets

  • Transformation Amulet – Increase our Advance by 4; Transformation Amulet is a valuable amulet for Advance builds. We can purchase it from Pulcinella after giving them two Venigni Collections.
  • Veteran’s Amulet – Increase our Maximum Legion; Veteran’s Amulet is fantastic for leveraging our Legion arm and can save us from relying on collectibles like the Legion magazine. We can find the Amulet in a chest before the end of the Arche Abby Outer Wall between two Carcass enemies.
  • Extreme Modification Amulet – Increase our Damage by up to 20% for each filled Fable Bar, the Extreme Modification Amulet is a fantastic damage buff if we don’t mind foregoing Fable Arts. We can obtain this Amulet by trading the Broken Hero’s Ergo to Alidoro.
  • Dancing One’s Amulet – Allows us to Dodge without Stamina; Dancing One’s Amulet helps compensate for our reduced ability to dodge. We can obtain the Amulet by trading the Parade Master’s Rare Ergo to Alidoro.

4. Motivity/Advance Build

A split between strong Motivity Weapons and the Legion Arm, Motivity and Advance is fun if we enjoy the advantage of powerful weapons and setting foes on fire or turning into Puppet String ninjas. While I don’t recommend this build for bosses, it’s versatile for exploring environments and atomizing regular enemies.

Stats

  • Level 80
  • Vitality: 34
  • Vigor: 17
  • Capacity: 30
  • Motivity: 12
  • Technique: 5
  • Advance: 21

Weapon: Circular Electric Chainsaw Blade

A giant electric saw, the Circular Electric Chainsaw Blade, is a wicked weapon dealing a fair amount of physical and electric damage. While better Motivity weapons outclass it, it is an excellent compromise that allows us to make the most out of our Legion Arm Abilities without giving up powerful Motivity Weapons.

We can purchase the Circular Electric Chainsaw Blade from the Wandering Merchant in Lorenzini Arcade.

  • Blade Type: Greatsword
  • Weight: 16.0
  • Attack Damage
    • Physical: 68
    • Electric Blitz: 61
  • Scaling
    • Motivity: C
    • Technique: D
    • Advance: B
  • Fable Arts
    • Condensing Slash (3 Fable) – Perform a Powerful Slash with up to three more slashes if we charged the strike beforehand
    • Rush Smash (3 Fable) – Perform a leaping attack and strike down at the enemy beneath you.

Legion Arm: Fulminis

  • Weight: 7.9
  • Electric Blitz ATK: 172
  • Scaling: (Motivity: B, Technique: D, Advance: B)

A shotgun lightning Arm, Fulminis is fantastic for inducing Electric Blitz and dealing massive damage at short range. While this weapon can take time to deal damage, charging two entire hits can be enough to stagger back enemies and induce the status effect that we can exploit with a motivity weapon. We can obtain Fulminis by spending a Legion Plug at Venigni’s workshop.

Amulets

  • Transformation Amulet – Increase our Advance by 4; Transformation Amulet is essentially gives us four more points we can invest into our health or Motivity. We can purchase it from Pulcinella after giving them two Venigni Collections.
  • Veteran’s Amulet – Increase our maximum Legion; Veteran’s Amulet allows us to make the most out of the Legion aspect of our build. We can find the Amulet in a chest before the end of the Arche Abby Outer Wall between two Carcass enemies.
  • Ghostwalker Amulet – Allows us to dodge Fury attacks; Ghostwalker Amulet works well with the Dancing One’s Amulet, allowing us to focus on dodging enemy attacks instead of parrying them. We can obtain the Ghostwalker Amulet by trading the Puppet-devouring Green Monster’s Rare Ergo to Alidoro.
  • Dancing One’s Amulet – Allows us to Dodge without Stamina; Dancing One’s Amulet allows us to escape dangerous boss attacks and escape enemies in the environment. We can obtain the Amulet by trading the Parade Master’s Rare Ergo to Alidoro.

3. Technique Build

Despite its low damage, range, and stagger rate, Technique builds are generally easier to perform perfect guards with and don’t require as much investment in Capacity. While I recommend Technique Builds over Motivity (i.e. the fights are more drawn out and challenging), they’re an acceptable alternative if you don’t want to endanger yourself to Motivity Build’s slow attacks.

Stats

  • Level 80
  • Vitality: 34
  • Vigor: 17
  • Capacity: 30
  • Motivity: 5
  • Technique: 27
  • Advance: 6

Puppet Ripper

  • Blade Type: Sword
  • Weight: 16.4
  • Attack Damage
    • Physical Attack: 137
  • Scaling
    • Motivity: C
    • Technique: B
  • Fable Arts
    • Quick Upward Slash (Fable 3) – Powerful upward slash on a single enemy.
    • Storm Spinning Slash (Fable 3) – Ranged, AoE slash for dealing with several enemies in a tight space.

One of the cooler-looking weapons in the game, Puppet Ripper, is a scythe sword with decent damage and higher scaling in Technique. While the weapon has a respectable range, its fable arts compensate for its limited reach. We can obtain the Puppet Ripper by trading the King of Puppets Rare Ergo to Alidoro.

Legion Arm: Flamberge

  • Weight: 8.2
  • Fire ATK: 40
  • Scaling: (Motivity: C, Technique: D, Advance: A)

A fiery arm that spews fire, Flamberge’s quicker reactivity allows us to better alternate between perfect guarding and spewing fire. I recommend immediately leveraging the arm’s ability until we inflict overheat, then continue attacking. We can obtain Fulminis by spending a Legion Plug at Venigni’s workshop in Hotel Krat.

Amulets

  • Blue Guardianship Amulet – Increases our Health, Stamina, and Legion; Blue Guardianship Amulet is a highly versatile amulet, increasing our ability to take and deal damage. We can purchase the Amulet from Pulcinella after giving him the Great Venigni Collection found behind Alidoro in the Relic of Trismegistus Combat Field Stargazer.
  • Conquering Amulet – Briefly increases our attack damage by 50% after performing a Perfect Guard, the Conquering Amulet drastically increases the damage our attacks can deal. We can obtain this Amulet by trading King’s Flame Fuco’s Amulet to Alidoro.
  • Dancing One’s Amulet – Allows us to Dodge without spending any Stamina; the Dancing One’s Amulet is fantastic for allowing us to spam dodge and deliver damage on foes. We can acquire the Dancing One’s Amulet by trading the Parade Master’s Rare Ergo to Alidoro.
  • Ghostwalker Amulet – Allows us to dodge Fury attacks; Ghostwalker Amulet pairs well with Dancing One’s Amulet, allowing us to worry less about performing Perfect Guards and avoiding enemy attacks. We can obtain the Ghostwalker Amulet by trading the Puppet-devouring Green Monster’s Rare Ergo to Alidoro.

2. Pure Motivity Build

Stats

  • Level 80
  • Vitality: 34
  • Vigor: 17
  • Capacity: 30
  • Motivity: 27
  • Technique: 5
  • Advance: 6

Fans of large Strength weapons in soulslike games will likely gravitate towards pure Motivity builds that employ heavier, more powerful weapons with incredible range and staggering attacks. While this build is vulnerable to slow swings and less reactive parry time, it’s highly effective at stun-locking enemies and staggering bosses.

Also, with its high guard, we can spend more time blocking and regain most of our blocked health with a single hit or two. While their utility falls off towards the fast endgame bosses like Simon Manus Awakened God and Nameless Puppet, Motivity builds remain valuable for dealing with multiple foes and traversing environments.

I highly recommend this build until we face the Laxasia the Complete at the Entrance to the Inner Abby, upon which we can switch to Uroboros’s Eye and install a Motivity Crank to make the weapon work with our build.

Weapon: Frozen Feast

  • Blade Type: Greatsword
  • Weight: 31.1
  • Attack Damage
    • Physical Attack: 167
  • Scaling
    • Motivity: B
    • Technique: C
  • Fable Arts
    • Liberate (Fable 1) – Frees the Crystal from the blade, temporarily increasing attack speed.
    • Single Slash (Fable 3) – Perform a single powerful slash that few foes can interrupt.

One of my favorites and strong enough to carry us into the endgame, Frozen Feast is a massive blunt crystal greatsword that increases in attack speed the more we hit enemies. Boasting devasting damage, range, and its nearly unstoppable Single Slash Fable Art that can endure most boss attacks, Frozen Feast is one of the best weapons in Lies of P.

While we’ll have to deal with the weapon breaking from enemies, inflicting decay and slow swings at the start of combat, after a few hits, we’ll have an armament that can make mincemeat of most bosses within a minute. We can obtain Frozen Feast by trading the Puppet-devouring Green Monster’s rare Ergo to Alidoro.

Legion Arm: Puppet String

  • Weight: 8.5
  • Physical Attack: 63
  • Scaling: (Motivity: C, Technique: A, Advance: D)

The first ability in our arsenal, Puppet String, allows us to grapple an enemy towards us or grapple towards them in higher tiers. While it deals poor physical damage and lacks the electric blitz or overheat abilities of Fulminis or Flamberge, Puppet String briefly stuns most enemies when we pull them toward us, effectively negating the slow swing times of Frozen Feast and Holy Sword of the Ark.

Though it’s unable to pull bosses towards us, we can still use Puppet string to grapple towards them and close the distance.

Amulets

  • Carrier’s Amulet – Increases our Carry Weight by 15%; Carrier’s Amulet is arguably the most crucial component of any Motivity build. I highly recommend the Carrier’s Amulet to lighten the loads of large-strength weapons and armor. We can find the first version in Moonlight Town after defeating the steampunk puppet miniboss. As for Carrier’s Amulet +1 (increases to 30%), we can find it behind the Trinity Door in a ruined version of Krat Central Station.
  • Blue Guardianship Amulet – Increases Health, Stamina, and Legion; Blue Guardianship Amulet boosts to Stamina and Health complements Motivity Build’s slow swings and ability to take and deal damage. We can purchase the Amulet from Pulcinella after giving him the Great Venigni Collection found behind Alidoro in the Relic of Trismegistus Combat Field Stargazer.
  • Conquering Amulet – Briefly increases our attack damage by 50% after performing a Perfect Guard; the Conquering Amulet drastically increases the damage our attacks can deal. We can obtain this Amulet by trading King’s Flame Fuco’s Amulet to Alidoro.
  • Patience Amulet – Increases our Stamina regeneration rate; Patience Amulet is crucial to regaining the Stamina spent from large swings. We can obtain the Patience Amulet in Malum District in the Black Rabbit Brotherhood bonfire by destroying the massive creature guarding the ruins.

1. Motivity/Technique Build

Stats

  • Level 80
  • Vitality: 34
  • Vigor: 17
  • Capacity: 30
  • Motivity: 16
  • Technique: 16
  • Advance: 6

While a Motivity Build will carry towards the end of the game, a split Motivity/Technique build is nearly required for arguably the best weapon throughout Lies of P: Uroboros’s Eye. with monstrous DPS. Though we receive this weapon just before the game’s end with the final two bosses ahead of us, I highly recommend this build to maximize Uroboros’s Eye’s damage.

Weapon: Uroboros’s Eye

  • Blade Type: Sword
  • Weight: 16.5
  • Attack Damage
    • Physical Attack: 107
  • Scaling
    • Motivity: C
    • Technique: B
  • Fable Arts
    • Wandering Moon (Fable 2) – Throw the weapon at a single enemy, having deal massive damage for a brief moment before returning.
    • Storm Notice (Fable 2) – Temporarily turn your weapon into a chainsaw, increasing attack damage.

A lightning-fast spinning sawblade-type weapon, Uroboros’s Eye is a highly reactive high-damage sword with high DPS with its Wandering Moon Fable Attack and regular attacks. While Frozen Feast may deal more damage, the final bosses’ utter speed makes Uroboros’s Eye a better pick for confronting the two monsters.

We can get Uroboros’s Eye from Laxasia the Complete after trading her Rare Ergo to Alidoro for the weapon.

Legion Arm: Puppet String

  • Weight: 8.5
  • Physical Attack: 63
  • Scaling: (Motivity: C, Technique: A, Advance: D)

An excellent addition to Uroboros’s Eye allows us to quickly deal with most regular enemies through pulling them towards us and stunlocking them. I highly recommend pairing it with a Technique/Motivity Build

Amulets

  • Conquering Amulet – Increases the damage following a successful Perfect Guard by 50%; the Conquering Amulet is nearly a requirement for tackling Lies of P’s Final Bosses. Like before, we can get the Amulet by trading Alidoro Fuoco’s Rare Ergo.
  • Red Fox’s Amulet – Increases our Motivity and Technique by 3 points; Red Fox’s Amulet effectively saves us six whole level-ups we can spend on Vigor or Vitality instead. We can find it just before Laxasia the Complete’s boss room in the wooden ramparts below, across a narrow bridge with dropping spikes.
  • Blue Guardianship Amulet: Increases Health, Stamina, and Legion Great for increasing our survivability in combat, Blue Guardianship Amulet makes up for our decreased abiltiy to Guard attacks and take damage. We can obtain the Amulet by searching the chest behind Alidoro in Trismegistus Combat Field Stargazer, giving the item to Pulcinella, and purchasing it from their expanded collection.
  • Patience Amulet: Increases our Stamina regeneration rate; . We can obtain the Patience Amulet in Malum District in the Black Rabbit Brotherhood bonfire by destroying the massive creature guarding the ruins.

FAQs

Question: What is the Best Lies of P Build?

Answer:  A split Motivity/Technique build with Uroboros’s Eye is arguably the best build in the game. While Motivity builds offer more significant damage, Uroboro’s Eye boasts high DPS and reactive guards, which work well against the faster-paced bosses at the game’s end.

Question: How Can I Equip Motivity Weapons without Fat-rolling?

Answer: Equipping the Carrier’s Ring from defeating the Steampunk Puppet in Moonlight Town and putting points into Capacity are the two best ways to increase our weight for wielding Motivity Weapons. While we can also unequip defensive materials, this puts us more at risk during the later areas of Lies of P, like Ruined Krat and Upper Abbey.

Question: What is the Best Lies of P Stat?

Answer: Vitality is indisputably the best stat throughout Lies of P. While other stats increase our damage, improving our health with Vitality is crucial to increasing the number of mistakes we can make before death or giving us more time to recharge a Pulse Cell.

Conclusion

Well done, puppet slayer! You’ve built a puppet-destroying machine to leave those angry automatons quaking in their cogwheel boots!

Even if I’m likely to just stick to Motivity builds on future playthroughs, I appreciate that Lies of P was willing to let me experiment with different builds before committing to the Frozen Feast. Though I wish the game had more abundant upgrade materials to let me experiment with more Boss Weapons, I’m looking forward to trying more of them on future playthroughs.

Regardless, with a properly built puppet, we’re ready to take on the remaining puppets and eldritch enemies awaiting us.
